Felice Varini is a Swiss artist who has spent the last 30 years perfecting his craft of anamorphic design. Anamorphosis is the art of placing 2D designs among a 3D surface. The art can be truly appreciated from one angle where you see the full design. From any other angle the painting only looks like a bunch of broken shapes in random places. If you step back though the optical illusion is truly magical. Over the past 30 years Felice has honed his talents so much so that he has actually been given the opportunity to use an entire village as his canvas. Take a look at the village below.
Here are some of the amazing works of art by Felice Varini.
This is the small town of Vercoren located in the Swiss Alps.
You know you’ve mastered your craft when an entire town gives you the opportunity to use the whole place as a canvas for your work. These are so incredible and i can’t imagine the geometry that is involved in order to create the perfect illusion from just one angle. One slight miscalculation and the entire piece would be thrown off. These must take so much time and patience. Now scale that to an entire town!
