There are places around the world that offer some phenomenal views and experiences if you have the guts to venture to the limits. One of the most serene places you can be would be a top a cliff facing the vast ocean in front of you. A landscape of endless miles of blue waves and you’re standing on the edge. It would give you a feeling of freedom and at the same time, a connection to the earth as well as the ocean below. Many people dream of living on top of a cliff with the ocean as their front yard peering into an almost neverending abyss of deep blues and the constant motion of tides and waves. Now take that feeling and multiply it by ten by going out past the safety of the cliff and dangling yourself off that edge, giving you a feeling of floating above the ocean. Seemingly not connected to anything and yet still a part of the sea and the earth surrounding you. Modscape Concept has plans to provide this feeling in an easy and unobtrusive manner. They have come up with a concept home design that they hope to put into production very soon offering that exact feeling. An almost adventurous feeling that will tie you into both the ocean and the landscape behind you. Their design is like no other, offering you a home on the face of a cliff, yes dangling high above the ocean floor below. You would literally walk or drive off of a cliff to enter your home which will be suspended off the cliff offering an experience and a view like no other home in the world.
Their concept home is aptly named “Cliff House” and the first one was designed to work with the enormous cliffs on the coast of Victoria, Australia.
The house is built from pre-fabricated modules that will stack together. The modules are fastened to each other and anchored to the side of the cliff with giant steel pins.
The home will offer views like no other home in the world being suspended off the side of a cliff over the vast ocean below.
The home provides 4 levels of living space as well as a 5th level for a balcony and a car port.
The levels are accessible with either stairs or an elevator and come complete with bathrooms, a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room, and dining room. The lower level comes complete with a suspended deck and a jacuzzi. Can you imagine sitting in a suspended hot tub, hundreds of feet in the air on the side of a cliff, with nothing in front of you but an endless ocean and a glass of wine?
This place looks absolutely incredible and is an engineering marvel, as there is nothing like it in the world. It’s just a concept at this point however, plans for production are in the very near future with the high demand of many Australians desiring to live on these extreme coastlines. The design of the home was inspired by barnacles clinging to the side of a ship. Would you be comfortable living in a home like this or would you feel uneasy all the time thinking that you may plummet to the cold shark filled depths below? I’d imagine the feeling would ease away but that first step into the home would be a hesitant one.
