Norway has decided to do a different type of campaign. A campaign that hopefully opens the viewer’s eyes to see things from a different perspective. Did you know that 1 in 4 women will be the victim of domestic violence? And 25% of people who are the victim will end up homeless? That means out of every 4 women you come across, one of them is being abused, whether it’s mentally or physically. This is such a sad statistic, but that is exactly what this campaign is trying to bring awareness to.

It starts with what appears to be a beautiful wedding photograph. On the surface this newlywed couple look blissfully happy, but sadly reality tells a different story – one of domestic violence and abuse.

That quickly turns for the worse. Behind the smiles, beautiful flowers and white wedding gown, the groom is twisting his new wife’s arm, which is battered and bruised from previous violent episodes.

The campaign is designed to help bring awareness to domestic violence. The advert urges people, including neighbors, friends and school teachers, to look out for signs of domestic abuse and report any suspicions to authorities. It states that the violence can be seen on many aspects, children, spouses, the elderly, in the work place, etc. And the purpose is for you to seek help if you or someone you know is a victim to the violence. There are so many resources to help you. Reach out and get the proper support you need. It’s out there and people are willing to offer help and support when needed.
